Happy Monday everyone!
We are so excited to be part of the official Nuby Parent Blogger program! We have partnered up with Nuby to share some of our favorite products & for our first review, we will be sharing our experiences with you all about the Nuby Garden Fresh Steam n Mash. I also wanted to include a couple of Oliver's favorite recipes using the steamer!
When our Nuby package arrived in the mail, I think I was more excited about it than Oliver was! I couldn't wait to try everything & see how we liked it. The first product I wanted to try out was the Garden Fresh Steam n Mash. When Oliver was a baby, I dedicated most of my time making his baby food, but let's be real, it is extremely time consuming! I finally gave up & we went to jars & pouches. Now that he is a toddler, he is eating 100% non-pureed foods (except for applesauce or mash potatoes). The main feature I LOVED about this product, was how fast it was to make everything. Whether it was just steaming vegetables for Ollie or making him applesauce, it took about the same time! This steamer would be perfect for kids of all ages :)
Before I share some of the recipes, here are some product features you should know about the Nuby Garden Fresh Steam n Mash:
- You can steam, mash & store all in the same container
-Bowl holds approximately 9 fl. oz
-Steaming basket holds 1 cup of food
-Bowl features textured interior for efficient pureeing to ideal consistency
-Wide handle for comfortable grip, pouring spout & non-skid base
-Dishwasher & microwave safe
Now on to the recipes!
Healthy Blueberry Applesauce
1 small apple, peeled & cut into tiny chunks
1/4 cup blueberries
1 tsp honey
Place the apple chunks & blueberries in the steam bowl & cover them with filtered water. Put the lid on & place in microwave for 3 minutes. Once done, place on counter with the lid still on for another couple of minutes. Once cooled, drain the water & transfer fruit into the main bowl. Next, add the honey & then mash away until you get the desired consistency!
Cinnamon Honey Sweet Potato Mash
1-2 small sweet potatoes, cut up in small pieces
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Place the sweet potato pieces in the steaming basket & pour filtered water over just enough to cover the pieces. Place in microwave for 3 minutes & then let the steamer sit on the counter with the lid on for another couple minutes. Once slightly cooled, pour out the water & then transfer the sweet potato to the main steam bowl. Add the honey & cinnamon & then mash away!
All of these recipes are Oliver approved (he is super picky, so the fact that he loves these recipes are amazing!).
